MY PLATFORM

My platform is based on the rural values of FREEDOM, FAMILY and COMMUNITY. These values are core to our lives today. As Americans, we pride ourselves on how free we are to be who we are. But we know that freedom is not free and that sometimes we need to reassert our right to freedom. Our family is precious and we want to provide the very best we can for our family's safety, security, prosperity and happiness.  Our Community is best served when businesses, public services, and volunteerism have needed resources. By extension, here are some ways that we can live these values:

MY PRIORITIES

RURAL HEALTHCARE
Healthcare is not a luxury. Access to affordable health care is a fundamental right.
Reproductive and gender affirming freedom is healthcare. Medicaid expansion is a no-brainer and would provide federal funds for compassionate care for income eligible individuals and support rural community healthcare systems. A regional mental health treatment center is needed and must be addressed.
FAMILY SECURITY
Affordable
childcare, like healthcare, is not a luxury. Our families deserve to grow and thrive and childcare is essential. Paid family medical leave can prevent a setback from becoming a family disaster. Adequate funding for our public schools, regardless of zip code, is a matter of fairness and necessity in today's competitive world. Housing is essential for the dignity of our families and the well-being of our community.
COMMUNITY
Housing has great consequence for communities. I will work to implement policies that address
housing affordability, homelessness, and sustainable development to ensure that everyone has a place to call home. Voting is essential to our freedom. Communities should provide eligible citizens the right to vote in the least restrictive manner. Farmers and rural towns alike depend upon agribusiness which is constantly challenged by threats to biosecurity. I raised livestock and a contagious viral outbreak can be devastating to a farming operation. Support for biosecurity measures can reduce the incidence of outbreaks. New technologies to capture greenhouse gases are available to farmers, but the cost of implementation and potential risk to production are barriers to adoption. Increased funding for environmental sustainability could change 'how things are done'.
